We stayed as a family in two rooms. At first the wood burning pizza oven looked great but they were out of most things on the menu. No generator, the management is too cheap. Wait staff overcharged us and expected us to pay because we were Mzungu, a racist term used for whites and an excuse to charge double or more due to our skin color.
The rooms were not clean, there were cockroaches in my room. I trapped one of the roaches under the ashtray, the rest were active at night so I tightly wrapped my holey mosquito net in hopes not to wake up with them crawling on me. The mosquito net was a joke with huge holes. The WiFi was a joke. The staff arrange hookers for male guests very openly. The room next to us were sharing a local woman for their weekend.
At night, staff use the empty unlocked rooms to either sleep with each other or what looks to be a minor brothel. Food was lousy, all meals. We would not stay here again, ever. Staff: I got to meet the most delightful personalities that work at this establishment.
Needless to say, they cater to your every need and are willing to go the extra mile. Internet: the WIFI did not work during my stay. I needed a local nano simcard, which if you know is not the most common sim used in many parts of Africa - staff at this establishment were relentless in their pursuit of it, which they managed to find! I appreciated this gesture immensely. Room: all rooms face the beautiful pristine blue ocean, with rooms being simple yet timeless.
Personally, I was left feeling glad there is no cable TV etc. This forced me to go outdoors and be more sociable, with taking evening strolls on the beach and meeting the locals. Side note: bugs: during dinner, ask that staff spray your room to ensure there are no bugs when you turn in for the night.
