The hearing took place from the juvenile detention center via a live video feed, but year-old Naparion Riley is being charged as an adult. He was arraigned Monday on one count of open murder and three counts of assault with intent to murder.
The judge denied bond and ordered Riley remain in custody while awaiting another hearing Dec. The Saginaw Police Department was called to a shooting in the Sheridan Park neighborhood just after 6 p. When they got to the scene, they found year old Nasir Owens in the parking lot of the old Nelle Haley Elementary School suffering from at least one gunshot wound. EMTs worked on Owens, but he died in that parking lot.
A makeshift memorial with balloons has been placed in the parking lot of the school. Saginaw police say the two teens knew each other and were former classmates at Bridgeport Spaulding Community Schools.
