I paid a quick visit to Washo Ichiba, a sizeable fish market in Kushiro near the city hall. Many of the stalls at Washo Ichiba sell shoyu-cured ikura salmon roe made from locally-caught fish duh. It was this past weekend and the next best thing to actually being in Hokkaido β which I was, just a few months ago.
Hokkaido is one of the best places to be during [β¦]. This squid was swimming around, minding its own business just a couple minutes before this photo was taken. Its tentacles were still moving and all those black spots were flashing on and off while we ate it sashimi style. Then they fried the head for tempura.
